Congratulations Urban!

It was 2 years and 1 week ago that Urban Meyer brought a Cinderella Utah Ute team to Arizona as the original BCS busters (and that was before they added a 5th BCS game). That day they dominated the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Fiesta Bowl, 35 to 7. And as loyal Utah fans, we were there. So its as a loyal Utah fan that I salute Urban Meyer on this night as the Florida Gators demolish the vastly over-rated Ohio State Buckeyes, 41 to 14. There are those that claim that Meyer was a social climber and opportunist who abandoned the Utah team when the occasion arose. But the facts are that Urban left the Utes in a much better shape then he found them. Not only that, but in two years, he had already achieved the very highest level that Utah could hope for in college football. Perhaps someday, when the university presidents pull their collective heads out of their asses, we'll have a playoff for the national championship, and perhaps, then Utah can hope to actually compete for the number one spot. So I don't fault Urban Meyer in the least - he saw the opportunity to be one of the most elite coaches in the country, and he took it, and tonight he has a national championship to show for it. Good for him!
